Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.

In a world where everyone is trying to get by, stop for a moment to observe the love that is around you.  When you see hate out there, know that the challenge is never the hate of some, but the silence, indifference and apathy of the many that hurt more.

Alok has spent the last 12 years working with people with intellectual disabilities and is an avid sports fan. He is also a national athlete who represented his country in Badminton and Table tennis Sports and working with people with intellectual disabilities are the two biggest passions in his life. He says, “I believe the work that professional social workers do plays an important part. But all of us can contribute in our own ways, by volunteering in relevant organizations or providing financial aid. Just start by getting involved in the community and see the impact you can make.”

Jaimee Nicole Bialy grew up with a cousin with cerebral palsy which helped shape her perception of people with intellectual disabilities from a young age. She studied in a school where one of her schoolmates had an intellectual disability. The children in her school were very accepting and protective of him. Her cousin is now 33 and she says, “I am fortunate to be around people and athletes who are loved and protected. My dream is to see and know that others in the world, too, receive the same type of treatment and opportunities. We are all equals after all.”
